Chanalyx vs Looker Studio for YouTube Reporting
Looker Studio can build almost any dashboard you can imagine — after someone connects the data sources, fixes the broken connector, and maintains it every time an API changes.
When Looker Studio fits
Looker Studio (formerly Google Data Studio) is free and extremely flexible. If you already have a data team, or a very specific custom visualisation nobody else offers, wiring up a YouTube data source and building exactly the dashboard you want is a real option, and it costs nothing but time.
When Chanalyx fits
The word doing the work in that last sentence is time. Connecting Looker Studio to YouTube Analytics properly, keeping the connector authenticated, rebuilding charts when a connector changes behaviour, and doing this again for every new client channel is a maintenance job most agencies did not sign up for. Chanalyx is the version of that dashboard that already exists, already works, and already includes the things a generic chart tool does not: competitor tracking, comment replies, white-label sharing.
What Chanalyx does that Looker Studio does not
Verdict
Looker Studio trades setup time for infinite flexibility. Chanalyx trades some flexibility for zero setup time. For most agencies managing several clients, the time saved outweighs the customisation given up.
